Your questions, answered...
Do you undertake work under the legal aid scheme?
Yes. A significant proportion of our work is performed under legal aid.
Do you accept work from anywhere in the UK?
Yes, whilst most of our work is in England and Wales (we have recently attended courts as far South as Cornwall and as far North as Newcastle) we have also completed work for other parts of the UK (including Northern Ireland).
Do you undertake work in relation to Magistrates Court and Crown Court proceedings?
Yes.
How long does it take to complete a report?
That varies depending upon the amount of work required. It will in most cases be between 3 to 4 weeks from the date when we receive all the necessary information and authority to proceed. However, should time be limited we will ensure the timetable is adhered to. We have never missed a deadline yet!
Can you let me have a fee quotation?
Yes, we will happily supply a fee quotation, free of charge and without obligation.
What information do you need from me to prepare that quotation?
You will be best placed to know what information is relevant. Typically, in a criminal case going to trial, any of the following which you have would be useful: a prosecution case summary, an outline of the defence case, counsel’s advice on the instruction of an expert, a page count of witness statements and exhibits, and a note of any deadlines and expected hearing dates. In a confiscation case a copy of the body of the prosecutor’s statement under s16 PoCA 2002 or equivalent (without the appendices) is preferable.
Do you accept instructions from members of the public?
Yes.
